The 2015 Paradox European Forum conference will look at the ways in which art practice and the education of artists negotiate official historical and contemporary narratives. Drawing on alternative practices it will examine the ways in which art can counter public and accepted structures.  Exploring moments when art is used to resist and subvert, this conference aims to evolve strategies for future art practice, pedagogy and androgogy.
Three strands will be convened to examine these issues from different perspectives; from within the educational institution, in the artist’s social engagement and through the agency of performance.

„Zamek“ Cultural Centre

The sessions of the conference will be held at „Zamek“ Cultural Centre.

(Kaiser’s Castle). This huge neo-Romanesque building, was constructed in the years 1905–10 for German Emperor William II. During WWII Hitler’s architect of court – Albert Speer – rebuilt the interiors of the castle, creating among others a replica of the Fuhrer’s Berlin study. Now the castle serves as a cultural centre “Zamek” (exhibitions, cinema, theatre, concerts).
